Recently for the last couple of weeks, while I eagerly waited for the release of dragon age 2, I’ve been spending a lot more of my gaming time on my Iphone rather than on my console or PC. I’ve been more and more blown away by the quality of these games at such an affordable price. Speaking for myself, I think its safe to say that the Iphone has overtaken the DS as my goto portable gaming device.
Here are a list of games that I’ve been absolutely addicted to recently.

This is a RPG style fantasy combat game. The variety of classes you control, along with a fairly robust leveling system will keep you entertained for weeks.
Games like World of Warcraft give players the means to save worlds, and incentive to learn the habits of heroes. What if we could harness this gamer power to solve real-world problems? Jane McGonigal says we can, and explains how.

Well it’s Valentines Day and what says “I love you” better than a full life gauge. thinkgeek.com has a pretty sweet shirt available for you romantic gamers out there. The shirt comes with 6 light-up hearts that default on 2 and a half. When two of these shirts come close together, all hearts will light up. Pretty sweet stuff. Great way to show off that special “Player 2″.
And for those of us soloing Valentines Day this year. There’s always companion cube.

Created by Immersive Media, the above is a snapshot of 360 interactive videos that puts you on the ground of post earthquake Port-au-Prince. Some of their clients include MuchMusic and Mercedes-Benz, but I have to say, the application of this technology in Haiti is by far the most interesting and is also an effective catalyst for generating foreign aid.

I found this Episode of EpicBattleCry, on GT.com, very interesting. They discuss everything from the newly released Bioshock 2 to Apple’s new Ipad. However, I really liked their discussion about games and how they are highly influenced by classic literature, such as Xbox’s Dante’s Inferno influenced by the Divine Comedy and Bioshock taking influence from various classic psychological literary works (23:34). Personally I think this is a great trend and I hope more games are made with deep rooted themes. Although Dante’s Inferno may not be the best game, and will probably never shake the God and War comparison, I think you have to give credit to the writers for bringing back a classic piece of literature, that may have been popular back in its day, and redelivering it back as a mainstream entertainment package. Gamers are not stupid, we can see passed head shots and explosions, and would appreciate a good story with a little bit of philosophy, every now and then… But I still love my head shots.
